Sky has joined the growing number of providers offering Video On Demand (VOD) services with the launch of its ‘Anytime on TV’ service.
Every day Sky will make available around 6 hours of selected programmes which will cover a broad spectrum of content across its current schedule. At any one time around 30 hours of weekly rolling content will be available including the best content from Sky Sports, Movies and Sky One.
The service is now available to Sky HD subscribers, and will be phased in over the next couple of weeks for Sky+ subscribers with the latest generation of the set-top box.
Sky has been quick to respond to services such as BT Vision, which mixes digital TV channels, received through a Freeview decoder, with on-demand programmes delivered via the net, and it likely that Sky’s solution will be a pre-cursor to something more substantial towards the end of the year.
Sky's new service follows in the footsteps of Anytime on PC and Anytime on Mobile, which both launched last year.
