Panasonic BD-Live DMP-BD50 blu-ray arrives in the UK

Panasonic's DMP-BD50 is the first UK Blu-ray player to offer the Profile 2.0 (BD-Live) specification.

Core functionality within 'BD Live' allows a disc to check online each time it is played - for new content related to the particular film. This content could be anything from movie trailers, ringtones to actor info which can then be viewed through picture-in-picture mode.

The DMP-BD50 can decode/output all of the lossless audio codecs such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. It also features 'audio re-master' which Panasonic claims compensates for the loss of data within compression systems such as Dolby Digital and DTS.

The DMP-BD50 also offers 1080p/24 along with Deep Colour and x.v.Colour support over HDMI 1.3. There is support for DivX, and the BD-50 can play files recorded in this format from both CD and DVD.
