Pioneer BDP-LX71 Blu-ray player now in the UK

Pioneer's high end BDP-LX71 blu-ray player offers the prospect of the most pristine blu-ray pictures yet seen.

As an upgrade to the LX70, the BDP-LX71 now supports all of the advanced audio formats with the ability to decode Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS HD and DTS HD Master high resolution audio formats.

The BDP-LX71 comes with a 1.1 blu-ray profile (rather than the 2.0 spec now available as a firmware upgrade on Sony's PlayStation 3). The inclusion of a Ethernet port should make upgrades to the profile (if and when they come) relatively painless.

Delivering films at there intended 24 frames per second, the BDP-LX71 should now produce 'judder' free movies on your high definition TV. There is also support for 12-bit deep color, an improved graphical interface and closer integration with Pioneer's 'Kuro' range of HDTV's.

Pioneer have placed a lot of emphasis on the DVD upscaling ability of the player focusing on its built-in PureCinema deinterlacer, which has been designed to reduce 'artefacts' commonly associated with interlaced material.
