Sony introduce X4500 high end LCD TV's

With a unique translucent 'floating' design along with a number of exciting technological innovations, the X4500 series has been one of the more anticipated arrivals on the LCD TV scene.

In standard form, the X4500's are supplied with sterling silver speaker covers, with the option to replace them with Ruby Red or Obsidian Black speaker covers.

Using controllable LED lights instead of traditional CCFL lights, the X4500 (46in and 52in models only) employs RGB LED backlighting technology. The 'RGB' element indicates that these high end LCD TV's offer full-colour RGB LED dimming rather than 'black & white' only dimming. LED backlighting intermittently dims dark areas of the picture, reducing light leakage for greater contrast and deeper richer blacks. Red, green and blue LED clusters give a broader range of colours than conventional white LED backlights.

DRC (Digital Reality Creation) 3.0 has been designed to boost resolution using advanced up-conversion-technology to stream a Full HD 1080p picture from standard definition sources.

Elsewhere we have the latest incarnation of Sony's picture processing engine, BRAVIA™ ENGINE 2 PRO which filters, cleans and optimises image data for the Full HD panels. There are 4 HDMI inputs and Sony's take on 100Hz processing, MotionFlow Pro.

The X4500 is DLNA™ Certified (Digital Living Network Alliance), allowing it to be seamlessly networked with other DLNA™ Certified devices within the home. DLNA technology brings with it a number of exiting possibilities; it will allow users, for example, to stream multimedia content from their PCs.

The 46in and 55in X4500's are in the UK now and will be joined shortly by a 40in model.
