Available in 32in, 37in, 40in, 46in and 52in screen sizes, Sony's W5500 mid-high end LCD TV range offers cutting edge technology while offering some impressive 'green' credentials.
The W5500 series features BRAVIA Engine 3 picture processing, Motionflow 100Hz along with IB (Image Blur) reduction. The screen has a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution along with 4 HDMI's. Sony have added a number of interesting internet enabled features.
'AppliCast' technology has been designed to bring the internet to the TV in the form of widgets. These widgets provide access to content such as RSS feeds, stock prices and weather reports.
DLNA gives the W5500 series the ability to stream music, view digital photos and watch video content stored on your home networked PC or media server. DNLA also lets you control playback functions like pause, fast-forward and rewind with your BRAVIA remote control.
The USB 'Media Player' allows you to connect any compatible media device to the USB input and access media from the XMB (Xross Media Bar) on-screen menu. Digital photos, MPEG1 video clips or MP3 music tracks and more can receive the big screen treatment.
There are a number of Eco Settings including the Light Sensor to automatically adjust screen brightness depending on the ambient light levels in your room. The new panels also feature a sensor which is able to detect movement in front of the TV set. If nothing is detected the screen at first turns off its picture (keeps audio running) before turning off completely. The models also have a side-mounted power switch for those who prefer not to leave the screen in Standby.
The W5500 series LCD TV's are now available in UK stores.
