Philips introduce new Ambilight TV's

Complete with Ambilight Spectra 2, 100Hz processing, five HDMI inputs and claimed 80,000:1 contrast ratios, Philips have introduced their 9604 series LCD TV's.

The 9604 will be available in 32in and 37in sizes at launch, with both screens featuring black aluminium frames.

With the inclusion of their latest picture processing engine, the 2009 Perfect Pixel HD chip, the 9604 series has the capacity to process five hundred million pixels per second. With the inclusion of the new chip Philips claim: "Picture quality for both sets is truly exceptional".

The new screens feature 3D and 2D noise reduction options for all sources, Perfect Color 17-bit Colour Booster technology for a huge colour palette and Perfect Natural Motion for sharp, judder-free images. NetTV allows the viewer to wirelessly connect to the internet using the TV remote.

Philip's acclaimed 'Ambilight' system delivers light from the sides of the LCD screen (via strip lights) to enhance/complement the current scene. With a fully back-lit LED (replacing the previous fluorescent source) light glows through the 'signature clear shroud', actually shinning through left and right areas of the frame independently. Philips describe the latest incarnation of Ambilight, 'Aurea II' by stating that it "accurately identifies dominant on-screen colours and generates precisely matched ambient lighting both via the Active Frame and independently from all four sides of the screen onto a rear wall."

Philips' new 32PFL9604 and 37PFL9604 LCD TV's will be launched this June with estimated selling price of £999 and £1,299 respectively.
