Responding to calls for a more suitable big screen implementation, YouTube have optimized their popular video sharing website for large screen TV's and computer monitors.
Of course, we need to qualify exactly what YouTube XL offers in that the application can only be viewed on your flat panel TV through a hooked up PC running a browser which supports flash. As long as you have flash however, there is no requirement to download and install anything on your computer.
YouTube XL gives you a stripped down and simplified version of the original application with large fonts, simplified menus and a removal of much of the clutter such as 'suggested videos'. The new application is similar to the YouTube implementation that is starting to appear on internet enabled TV's from the likes of Samsung.
YouTube XL can actually be viewed from any device which supports a flash enabled browser, so you can make use of the application through your PS3 or Wii (output at a lower resolution due to hardware restrictions).
The picture can appear a little grainy, but YouTube XL is certainly a useful way to begin watching YouTube content on the bigger screen.
