Do we need even more slimmer flat panel TV's in addition to the raft of waif like panels we have seen over the past year or so? With the introduction of the 5.5mm deep GD-32X1, JVC certainly thing so.
Along with that incredibly slim profile comes a weight of just 5.7Kg which will make the new screen an incredibly portable piece of kit.
The GD-32X1 follows a number of ultra slim screens from the likes of Sony and Samsung. JVC's latest offering is even slimmer than Sony's 9.9mm deep XEL-1 OLED although Sony will point to the fact that the JVC reaches a thickness of over 2cm at its widest point.
The GD-32X1 is equipped with LED edge-lighting along with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and 4,000:1 contrast. There are just two HDMIs, analogue component, and composite video, with speakers available as an optional extra.
Although the GD-32X1 will be commercially available in Japan from this week on it is intended for commercial display uses only; it could however point towards future slimmer panels from JVC. The GD-32X1 will retail for the equivalent of £1400 in Japan.
