LG introduce two new 55in LED TV's

The Korean electronics giant LG has released details of two new 55in LED TV's, the 55LH95 and 55LH93, which both share an array of 3,360 LEDs along with 200Hz processing.

According to LG, 240 groups of 14 LEDs give these panels a significantly higher number of lights than existing panels with the same technology.

By placing a number of screen components into a separate 'media' box LG have managed to create two incredibly slim TV's, at just 24.8mm at their widest point. Both new panels share a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution along with a massive claimed 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

LED TVs dispense with the traditional always-on single backlight but replace it with a myriad of individual LED backlight arrays. Individual LED segments can be turned on or off for improved screen performance and ultimately better black levels.

LED technology also improves the motion handling capabilities of LCD's, in particular their problems with "motion blur" as well as providing a much richer and greater range of colour.

The 55LH95 and 55LH93 are only available in Korea for now, priced at the equivalent of £3335 and £3621 respectively..
