Giving them the power to enable 3D TV to become a reality, the next generation of LG TV's will license multi-core processors from the chip manufacture ARM.
The new ARM circuitry will not only give the next generation of LG's the not inconsiderable power required to make 3D TV a reality but will also enable them to deliver a whole new interactive appearance with enhanced connectivity and interactivity.
The Arm 11 CPU and ARM's Mali-200 and Mali-400 graphics processors will run at 1GHZ and more, delivering improved multitasking, Adobe Flash acceleration, cleaner 1080p resolution and what LG are claiming will be a full Web 2.0 experience.
LG also plan to integrate Adobe try2way and open source technologies to create a revolutionary interactive experience. The try2way platform will provide video-on-demand, e-commerce, games and other services, without the need for any external devices.
The core software technology employed by try2way is a Sun Microsystems Java-based system which is already in wide use by many developers to create content for TV, personal computers, game players, mobile phones and the Internet. Tru2way technology will be used to create and to deploy new applications and features that appear on the TV screen with a click of the TV remote.
LG have not indicated when their first ARM enabled LCD TV's will become available, but some time in 2010 looks likely.
