Sharp promise an LCD TV revolution
Friday, 18 September 2009 12:25 UK

With the future implementation of its UV2A technology into LCD TV's, Sharp aims to revolutionize the quality of flat panel display performance.

UV2A technology builds upon Sharp’s proprietary ASV (Advanced Super View) technology, which precisely controls the movement of liquid crystal molecules within the LCD’s panel structure.

By employing a special material that reacts to ultraviolet radiation, the technology provides much greater control over the tilt angle of liquid crystal molecules. Sharp have called their new system 'pico-technology' which refers to the 'picometer' measurement of LCD accuracy.

Benefits of the new system include a dramatic reduction in light leakage with resulting contrast ratios up to 60% better than current levels. The tech will also result in greatly reduced running costs.

Interestingly, Sharp has said that the new UV2A panels will be ready for Quad HD and 3D technology. UV2A will be unveiled at this years CEATEC Expo in Tokyo with plans to build the technology into future LCD's TV's.
