With the introduction of their V5810 series of LCD TV's, Sony have added to their range of Freesat enabled TV's in the UK.
The V5810 joins the recently launched W5810 and Z5810 series as the first Sony LCD TV's to feature the DVB-S2 tuner for Freesat access. Freesat provides free (no subscription) digital TV satellite service to over 140 digital TV and radio channels, including BBC HD and ITV HD.
Freesat was launched on 6th May 2008 as a joint venture between the BBC and ITV and requires users to install a satellite dish to gain access.
Featuring Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution screens, 24p True Cinema modes, 4 HDMI inputs and 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, the V5810 series are similar to the W5810. The W5810 gets the benefit of 100Hz processing while the Z5800 adds the 200Hz version of Sony's Motion Flow system.
