Not necessarily the most technically accomplished, but those TV's that have made their mark in 2009 by making us stop and think, buy offering exceptional value for money, or just looking stunningly pretty.
1. Samsung UE40-B7000
Not only have Samsung brought LED TV technology to the masses, but in the B7000 series they have delivered it in an achingly gorgeous svelte like package.
2. Philips 32PFL7404
In 2009, Philips continued to demonstrate its technical excellence with a range of stunningly good LCD TV's. In the PFL7404 series they have made that technology affordable.
3. Samsung LE-32B450
Many people's choice for the most accomplished TV of 2009. The B450 range delivers a performance that matches a number of high end LCD TV's in a package costing less than £350
5. Panasonic TX-P42V10
Panasonic might not be able to quite match Pioneer's much lamented Plasma's, but in the TX-P42V10 they have produced a stunningly good flat screen TV that comes close.
6. Samsung LE-40B650
As one of the first mid range LCD TV's to emerge with those deep lustrous blacks we have now become used to, the B650 range is still part of a leading pack of flat screen TV's.
7. Sony KDL-40W5500
Sony LCD TV's have been getting better and better of late; and if we hadn't had the odd report of minor backlight inconsistencies, the W5500 would be higher up the list.
8. Panasonic TX-L37V10
Having taken the LCD world by storm a few years ago, subsequent offerings from the Japanese manufacturer were a little disappointing. They have now redeemed themselves in the the V10 series with class leading LCD TV's.
9. Sharp LC40LE600
Seen by some as a little opportunistic in joining the LED bandwagon, the LE600 nevertheless delivers an LED TV which employs the technology effectively, is cheap and in our opinion looks pretty good with it.
10. Panasonic TX-L37G10
Not the best plasma we have ever come across, but performance for the price makes it one of the stand out flat screens of 2009.
