As the first UK Blu-ray player to incorporate built-in wi-fi for simple access to the internet along with a host of other impressive features, LG's BD390 is set to change the way we view High Definition disc spinners.
As a DLNA certified player, LG's BD390 will wirelessly stream films, music and photos to the player from your PC. The wireless connection also supports the new 802.11 standard for improved operation and stability.
There is a useful 1GB of on board storage which can be expanded via the USB port which accepts flash drives as well as external hard drives.
The BD390 supports all of the major HD audio formats with the ability to export the raw bitstreams. The player also supports 1080 / 24p video for faithful representation of film shot at the slightly slower frame rate.
First impressions of the Korean manufacturers new player are that it is extremely easy to operate and set up. Enough to send shivers even down the spines of competent technology enthusiasts, wi-fi is a doddle to set up with a series of wizards.
Picture performance is quite stunning, with some of the sharpest and most colourful we have come across. Disc loading times along with transision time from chapter to chapter leave most blu-ray players trailing. Proving that you can't have everything, well not quite, is a rather sluggish access of some BD live features.
We will be having a more detailed look at the BD390 soon, but first impressions indicate a new bench mark for Blu-ray player performance. LG's BD390 Blu-ray player is available in UK stores now.
