With their 32AV615 and LE-32B450, Toshiba and Samsung have signalled the dawn of an era in which we can enjoy affordable medium sized flat panel TV's which don't compromise on performance.

Along with Samsung's LE-32B450, the Toshiba 32AV615 has begun to redefine what the consumer can expect from a TV costing something a lot less than the average monthly take home pay. At around the £300 price mark, everyone can now enjoy decent mid size TV performance for a fraction of the cost we would have paid in the not too distant past.

While there are a few compromises here and their, both screens coming with a native resolution of 1,366 x 768, both of these TV's feature the core picture processing elements of much higher priced offerings.

Although you won't find the stunning black level performance available on the best plasmas and LED equipped screens, what you do get is a level of performance which is a million miles away from the majority of budget 32in panels.

The basic principle of this new breed of TV's is quite simple; remove all of the peripheral 'bells & whistles' found on high end TV's while retaining the latest core picture processing circuitry.

This is a formulae we feel other manufacturers are bound to copy, especially as Toshiba's 32AV615 and Samsung's LE-32B450 are beginning to fly off retailer's shelves.
