BDP-S770

As part of their comprehensive strategy to bring 3D entertainment into the home, Sony have revealed their BDP-S770 and BDP-S470 Blu-ray players.

The new standalone Blu-ray players will support 1080p 3D and will be able to connect to the internet with an optional USB wireless LAN adapter.

The BDP-S470 comes hot on the heals of Sony's first 3D Blu-ray player, the BDP-S770, unveiled at this years CES in Las Vegas. Unlike the BDP-S770 which is 3D-ready straight out of the box, the S470 will require a firmware update to enable 3D playback.

Owners of Sony's PS3 games console (which can also play Blu-ray discs) along with BDP-S370 and the BDP-S570 owners, will also have the option of upgrading to 3D. A firmware update is expected to arrive in the summer.

Alongside new the new blu-ray players, Sony will introduce their BDV-E870 and BDV-E370 Blu-ray 3D enabled Home Cinema systems.

The BDP-S470 will be available in the UK by the end of next month for around £125.
