Humax HD-FOX T2 DVB-T for Freeview HD arrives in the UK
Monday, 08 March 2010 11:56 UK

Coinciding with the ongoing role out of High Definition channels through the Freeview platform, Humax have introduced the HD-FOX T2 HD Freeview box.

Of course, the big feature of the The HD-FOX T2  is its ability to pick up Freeview HD broadcasts (720p); it will also feature 1080p upscaling.

Elsewhere there is auto detection to avoid having to retune and it will play media from an external hard drive or USB key. There is also the functionality to record onto USB hard drives to save buying a full on PVR.

The HD-FOX T2 supports the UPnP protocol which is derived from plug-and-play, a technology for dynamically attaching devices directly to a computer.

Although UPnP is not directly related to the earlier plug-and-play technology, the concept is similar in that when devices are connected to a network they automatically announce their network address and supported device and services types. This enables clients that recognize those types to immediately begin using the device.

To follow shortly is the Humax HD-FOX T2 Freeview HD PVR which along with all the features of its sibling will feature a 500GB hard drive for recording High Definition and Standard Definition material.

Bear in mind that Freeview HD services are currently being rolled out across the UK, so it is important to check via Freeview whether they are available in your area.
