With an ultra slim profile courtesy of 'Infinia' styling along with built in Freeview HD, LED backlighting and Skype, LG's LE7900 could be the one to watch in 2010.

The LE7900 series comes in 32in, 37in, 42in, 47in and 55in varieties, gaining the benefit of LG's implementation of frame rate enhancement, TruMotion 100Hz.

Of course, a big talking point for those of us who are not prepared to shell out a subscription for HD or cannot for some reason install a Freesat dish, is the arrival of Freeview HD.

While the High Definition programmes currently available only amount to the BBC trial HD channel and ITV's equivalent, Channel 4 will be added later this year and sports fans will certainly not be disappointed with the likes of Wimbledon and the World Cup in HD to look forward to this summer.

Bear in mind that Freeview HD services are currently being rolled out across the UK, so it is important to check via Freeview whether they are available in your area.

LG along with Panasonic are the first manufacturers to add Skype functionality to the TV. Free Skype to Skype calls are available through LG's 'Netcast' internet portal (requires a broadband connection). Currently a webcam and microphone have to be bought separately.

Netcast arrives as LG's TV internet portal with access to the likes of youtube, weather forecasts, online photo sharing and of course free Skype to Skype video conferencing from the comfort of your living room sofa. Netcast is accessed through a home broadband network via the built-in Ethernet port or using an optional WiFi USB dongle.

Elsewhere there are 4 HDMI inputs, DLNA, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 (DivX HD, MP3, Jpeg playback), Wireless AV link along with a claimed 5,000,000:1 Dynamic contrast ratio.

LG will introduce a number of Freeview HD LCD TV's in 2010 which include the step up LE 8900, the LE 7900 and LE 5900 LED TVs.
